River of Light: Tower Lanterns

Using materials such as velum, watercolors and LED lights, participants will learn how to make tower-shaped lanterns, and later can join the outdoor parade River of Lights on January 18th.
River of Light is a celebration of light in winter. Presented by the Public Arts & Culture Committee in partnership with the Watertown Cultural Council, the lantern-making workshops and wintertime parade build community and bring light. The workshops and celebration are supported by the Public Arts & Culture Committee, the Mass Cultural Council, and the Watertown Cultural Council.

Beginner level
This workshop is for adults and older children ages 12+.
Children ages 12-17 may attend on their own as long as their parent or legal guardian cosigns Hatch's waiver form in person before the event.
This workshop starts on time. If you arrive late, your spot may be given to someone on the waitlist.

This event takes place at WFPL’s Hatch Makerspace, located at 20 Summer Street in Watertown, just a few blocks away from the Library. Hatch is an entirely free workspace full of tools and materials that you can use anytime we're open.
