The Watertown Free Public Library and Ágora Cultural Architects proudly welcome author Javier Marín to discuss his book Live from America: How Latino TV Conquered the United States.

About the Author: Javier Marín has owned Spanish-language media outlets in the U.S. since 2000. He co-owns Tiempo in Washington, D.C., and Boston. Until 2024, he was an investor in Univision’s official soccer retail venture. Marín graduated from Harvard’s Owner/President Management program and lives in Maine with his wife, Carolina.

About the Book: This book unravels the personal intrigues, hidden tensions, power plays, and cultural shifts behind the media empire now known as Univision, revealing how its programming--from telenovelas and soccer to news and music--shaped an identity and captivated an audience growing alongside the network. A fascinating account of the dream to give voice to millions of Hispanics in the United States, and how Latino television forever changed the country's media landscape.

Sobre el Autor: Javier Marín ha sido dueño de medios de comunicación de habla hispana desde el año 2000. Es copropietario de Tiempo en Washington D.C, y Boston. Hasta el 2024, fue inversor en la empresa retail oficial de fútbol de Univision. Martín se graduó en el programa Owner/ Management de Harvard y vive en Maine junto a su mujer, Carolina.
